We had the pleasure of exhibiting and attending Heritage Day 2026: Heritage Connects, organised by the Heritage Alliance. This annual event brings together heritage professionals from across the UK to celebrate how history connects communities, people and places - and it proved to be an inspiring day for all involved.
The conference provided a unique platform to share knowledge and showcase innovative projects across the heritage sector. For us at TownsWeb, it was a great opportunity to demonstrate how archive digitisation and collections preservation can support organisations in safeguarding fragile materials while making them more widely accessible for research, education, and public engagement.
We also had the chance to connect with fellow heritage professionals, sharing experience and discussing best practices for digitising archives, protecting collections, and improving access for researchers and the public alike. Events like these reinforce the vital role of collaboration in the heritage sector, and how modern technologies are breathing new life into archival materials.
Attending the event gave us great insight into emerging trends and challenges in the sector, including balancing the needs to accessibility with preservation, and the growing demand for digital heritage resources that support both academic research and public engagement.
We left inspired and energised, with plenty of new ideas and connections to help us continue our work in archive digitisation and heritage preservation. A big thank you to The Heritage Alliance for hosting such a well-organised and engaging event!
