The Society of American Archivists (SAA) ARCHIVES*RECORDS 2025 Conference in Anaheim, California, has officially wrapped, and what an incredible week it was for PastView and our ArchivalOne partners!
There are certainly worse locations to be sent for a conference, but California didn’t disappoint. Palm trees, blue skies, and hot sunshine made for a fantastic setting to meet my ArchivalOne partners face-to-face for the first time. That alone made this year’s SAA a memorable one for me personally, and it was the perfect backdrop for a week full of connection and collaboration.
From the moment the doors opened at the Hilton Conference Center, the energy was high and the conversations flowed. We were thrilled to meet so many archivists, hear about their projects, and exchange ideas about the future of archives and access. The enthusiasm of this professional community made our booth a lively hub throughout the event.
One of the highlights of our time at SAA was our mini-theatre presentation, by our very own Jordan Baron and Brandon Werts. This session drew a fantastic crowd and sparked engaging discussions that continued back at our booth. It was inspiring to see such strong interest in how ArchivalOne is helping archivists organize, digitize, and publicize their collections.
Of course, it would be impossible not to mention the conference’s most talked-about giveaway - our monkey plushies. Dubbed by one attendee as “the best giveaway of the year,” they brought plenty of smiles and added a playful spark to the serious work of archives.
They quickly became a great conversation starter, helping us discuss how collections can sometimes feel like a jungle, and how we can tame the chaos by “monkeying” with their archives, turning backlog mayhem into structured, organized collections.
Beyond the booth, we enjoyed the chance to spend time with both new and familiar faces. A special thank you to Conserv for co-hosting a morning coffee meetup with us, which gave us more time to connect with peers in a more relaxed setting.
We also extend our gratitude to SAA for hosting such a well-organized and welcoming event. It provided the perfect platform to strengthen relationships and build new connections across the archival community.
Now we've returned home, we bring with us not only new connections but also fresh inspiration for the year ahead. We are deeply grateful to everyone who stopped by our booth, attended our presentation, or simply took a moment to chat.
If we missed you at SAA this year, we would still love to connect. If you'd like to learn more about our PastView platform, please contact us here.
