From Portsmouth to Pokhara

On Saturday 16th August, our colleague Sam Coupland is taking on a huge personal challenge - a 12-hour stationary cycle ride in the heart of Portsmouth City Centre - all to raise funds for rural communities and churches in Nepal.

Armed with determination (and hopefully plenty of water), Sam will be pedalling from 5am in the morning until evening, in his hometown, to help provide vital supplies and support to areas where even small contributions go a long way. 

Thanks to the exchange rate, a donation as small as just £5 can cover a whole year’s worth of educational supplies for one child.

What Is the Fundraiser Supporting?

All donations raised from the challenge will go directly to supporting projects during Sam’s upcoming volunteering trip to Nepal in September, including:

• Shoes, educational supplies, and hygiene products for families in remote mountain villages.

• A new sound system and music equipment for a local church in the city of Pokhara.

• Youth resources for an event expected to welcome over 150 young people.

“I will be visiting Nepal in September to distribute the aid packages to the rural villages, and also help set up a new church sound system. I'll be volunteering alongside a Nepali friend that recently lived in the UK for a year, who's doing a lot of good work out there with churches in the city, but also supporting rural villages in the mountains nearby.

I've lived in Nepal before, for a year, doing much the same thing. I will also be teaching kids bible stories and playing guitar. We're also hosting a youth event with probably over 150 youth attending.”
