HSBC HISTORY: EXPLORE THE VIRTUAL TOUR

On 6th July 2021 the HSBC History Website was launched and now, almost a year to the day, we are set for another great treat: the launch of and opportunity to tour the London vault! Now visitors can take a tour of the HSBC London based archives from the comfort of their own home, made accessible through the PastView platform, to be enjoyed from anywhere in the world. This wonderful addition compliments the Hong Kong archive gallery, created at the start of the lockdown period, meaning both London and Hong Kong can now be explored as if they were right here on our very doorsteps.

HSBC is one of the largest financial organisations in the world and has been trusted since its foundation back in 1865 by over 40 million customers who have benefited from services driven by advanced technology and innovation. HSBC’s archives are one of the most important business collections in the world. The archives contain the historical records not only of HSBC, but also of many of the banks which have been acquired by HSBC and its predecessor companies.

Once again, we have been honoured to play a part in this digital journey from the capturing of the archive by our TWA team, the quality control and the harnessing of rich metadata, to the ingest into our PastView platform in order to host this new and exciting addition to the HSBC story. The HSBC History website has proved to be a wonderful portal into one of the world’s most culturally significant archives and the new London Archive VR Tour is another real treat for customers, visitors and historical enthusiasts alike.
