Transforming Physical Collections into Structured DAM Ready Assets

From Digitisation to DAM

As DAM Europe 2025 approaches, the spotlight is once again on the systems and processes that help global brands manage, access, and activate their digital assets. But long before those assets enter a DAM, there’s a crucial step that determines their long-term value and usability: high-quality digitisation.

At TownsWeb Archiving, we specialise in transforming physical assets into structured, data-rich digital files. From heritage archives to physical products and audiovisual content, we deliver assets that are purpose-built for seamless ingestion into your DAM. Our services ensure every item is captured with precision, enriched with metadata, and formatted to align with your DAM’s taxonomy.

Creating DAM-Ready Assets

Our digitisation workflow is built around quality, consistency, and metadata precision. We don’t just scan or photograph items, we create enriched, accessible, and traceable digital replicas designed for long-term use and discoverability.

This includes:

  • Taxonomy alignment to match your DAM’s metadata structure.

  • Custom metadata creation for enhanced search and contextual relevance.

  • High-resolution scanning and product photography, including 360° views.

  • Audio-visual conversion of legacy formats such as tapes, reels, and recordings.

  • Tagging, barcoding, and item-level traceability.

Whether you’re digitising archive materials, product collections, or multimedia records, we ensure every output is more than just a file - it’s a fully enriched digital asset, ready to be accessed, searched, and shared.

Real-World Application: Working with a High-End Fashion Brand

A recent project saw us working on-site at a renowned fashion brand’s HQ, photographing thousands of unique products for ingestion into their DAM. This involved:

  • Setting up three different mobile photography studios.

  • Capturing high-resolution and 360° imagery.

  • Assigning consistent metadata aligned with their existing taxonomy.

  • Registering, boxing, and archiving each item for future access.

The result was a centralised, highly searchable digital collection that could be accessed globally by internal teams for marketing, brand heritage, and design reference purposes.

Brands We've Supported

We’re proud to have supported a wide range of organisations in their journey from physical to digital.

Some of our clients include: Unilever, HSBC, Twinings, M&S, and GSK - each trusting us to digitise, enrich, and preserve their valuable assets for future use and brand storytelling.

Building the Foundations for Digital Asset Success

No DAM can perform at its best without a strong foundation of well-structured, high-quality digital assets. From printed documents and books, to audio recordings and film reels, TownsWeb helps organisations bring their diverse heritage into the digital realm - ready for global access, preservation, and repurposing.

Our PastView platform can take these digitised assets and bring them to life ever further. From interactive timelines to our page-turning BookExplorer, or immersive digital exhibitions, PastView helps showcase your collections in engaging and meaningful new ways.

If you’re attending DAM Europe 2025 and want to learn more about how we help organisations prepare their physical collections for digital access, keep an eye out for our Chief Operating Officer, Casper Smithson, who will be in attendance, or get in touch to schedule a conversation with us.
